Under the Banner of IMS Consumer Club, IMS Law College organized a Debate Competition on the topic “Shall there be a Ban on the Television Advertisement aimed at Children” on 30th July, 2011 at Seminar Hall, IMS Campus. The programme was started by the lighting the Lamp by eminent speakers Dr Sunil Prakash (President, Consumer Forum, Delhi) and Ms Anju Bajaj (Executive Member , Consumer Forum ,Delhi),Sri Alok Agrawal(Advisor ,IMS),Dr. N.S. Azad (Principal IMS Law College ) and Dr Niti Sinha Convenor (IMS Consumer Club).Total number of participants were ten ,five participants spoke for the topic and five against the topic. topic was debated by many Law Students such as Anneysha Kundu (B.A.;LL.B III semester) spoke about that Advertisement aimed at children brings negative social consequences. Akshay Saxena ((B.A.; LL.B III semester) spoke on Advertisement is the general, way to provide information regarding the product. It motivates the viewers to buy the product on the most basic part of marketing. Suman Grewal (B.A.,LL.B V Semester) spoke about the child standing on the top of the building trying to perform the act of Spiderman and other characters of Television and injure their health and other things. There are many different Acts which are established for prevent the negative impact on children and put check on Advertisement based on Children. Sumaiya Nausheen ((B.A.; LL.B III semester) spoke on Advertisement aimed at children are for the welfare of the child health .No child will remain a child forever, they will grow. TV stars are admired by many children who helped them to enjoy their life with excitement and happiness. The winners of this event were Suman Grewal (B.A., LL.B V Semester), (Ist Prize), Sumaiya Nausheen (B.A.., LL.B III semester), (IInd Prize) and Barinder Kaur (B.A.., LL.B IX semester), (IIIrd Prize).Dr. Sunil Prakash,Ms. Anju Bajaj and sri Alok Agrawal distributed trophies and certificates to the participants. The event was coordinated by Dr Niti Sinha (Convenor IMS Consumer Club, Noida). It was attended by many Faculty members and students of IMS.
